A picture is worth a thousand words…
We start out being separated from God by Man’s desire to be in control of it’s own destiny. We begin in our humanness unaware of the struggle over us and our allegiance in the spiritual world around us. It is an eternal business that when ignored can bring grave consequences. We, our spirit, will exist for eternity. This would mean we accept the existence of a spiritual dimension where we need to assign our allegiance.
Our beings are 3 parts which includes a spirit that craves spiritual fulfillment. But if one does accept this fact, they may try to quench this craving in other ways with the other parts of our being, soul and body. Some become distracted with their own needs, the allegiance question is not addressed before they leave this world. This should be avoided at all costs because the default setting is an eternity without God, but with the alternative, Satan who seeks to destroy all things created in God’s image-us.
1 Peter 5:8 Amplified Bible (AMP)
8 Be well balanced (temperate, sober of mind), be vigilant and cautious at all times; for that enemy of yours, the devil, roams around like a lion roaring [[a]in fierce hunger], seeking someone to seize upon and devour.
So we have decided to accept the gift of Salvation and join our lives with Christ. We have accepted the Spirit of the Living God in to our lives. He will reside in our spirit.
We then become a child of God with all its benefits and privileges which one needs to discover. We are adopted in to the family of God.
Ephesians 1:5 (AMP)
5 For He foreordained us (destined us, planned in love for us) to be adopted (revealed) as His own children through Jesus Christ, in accordance with the purpose of His will [[a]because it pleased Him and was His kind intent]—
If you were a person who was being adopted at an older age, you would have routines and life experiences before joining your new family. You come as you are into your new family and learn to adapt to a new situation. You can’t do it all at once, in fact, things kind of unfold as you get to know each other. As we develop a vertical relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Please read Romans Chapter 8. It is a chapter that talks about this process.
1 Thessalonians 5:23
23 And may the God of peace Himself sanctify you through and through [separate you from profane things, make you pure and wholly consecrated to God]; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved sound and complete [and found] blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah). (AMP)
You are accepted and loved into God’s Kingdom including a personal relationship with Him because you accepted Christ’s sacrifice on the cross and His resurrection. You have recognized and have chosen to believe that He is the Savior who frees us from sin/ separateness from God.
We are joint heirs with Him with God the Father!
